CD Covers - other artists\bands

Following on from my last post, I looked at more of the well-known, main artists, to try and get influence for my CD cover.
I began to look at artists within the same genre as my music video (Indie Rock). These include; The Arctic Monkeys, The Script and Mumford & Sons...
From looking at these CD covers, I based my front cover purely on the artist, just like on The Arctic Monkeys CD cover.

CD Covers - Ben Kweller

For every artist, they need their album to convey an art piece. To create my CD cover, I had to look at different CD covers to try and have an influence to create my one.

Firstly, I looked at the artist of my music video (Ben Kweller) and to see how his CD covers promotes his song.

'Sha Sha'
'Sundress'
'Changing Horses'
'Go Fly A Kite'

As you can see, the artist's CD covers convey different artistic designs; Some show the artist, some show different colors and fonts, and some depict different templates.

Choice of shot #10

This shot depicts the main concept of the music video. I took the shot by crouching down with hints of soft zooming. The reason why the picture is shown scrunched and dirty, again, indicates the emotions. To further this point, I chose to put the picture in a puddle.

Choice of shot #9

This shot displays the character's deeper emotions. The fact that he's walking through the puddle indicates the sadness being emitted. Furthermore, I chose a high-angle shot as it conveys the character's emotions (becoming powerless), making the audience feel sorry for him.

Choice of shot #8

This is my favorite shot of my music video. Firstly, the two characters can be shown clearly and effectively, due to the lighting being portrayed in the background. Moreover, there is a contrast between the lighting - light to dark. As you may also know, I used this shot for my CD pack (Back cover)

Choice of shot #7

This shot again shows the high emotions of the two characters. This is the first time we've seen the two together. I created the low-angle shot by crouching down on one knee. The low-angle creates the relationship between the two to be strong and powerful.

Choice of shots #6

This shot conveys the sense of confusion, following on from 'Choice of shot 5'. The cold environment illustrates the emotions being felt by the artist.

Choice of shot #5

This shot shows in contrast to the other shots shown. This highlights the change in emotion for the male character. The idea of using a high angle, shows that he is powerless, due to the fact that his emotions have started to run low.

Choice of shot #4

Like 'Choice of shot #1', this shot shows the two characters holding hands, showing the emotions between them both. Unlike #1, this shot shows a high angle, displaying what is going on.

Choice of shot #3

Following on from 'Choice of shot #2 (my last post), this shows the same shot, but at a different angle. Again, this show depicts the sense of emotion between the two characters. Looking at their faces, we can determine the feelings that they have for each other.

Choice of shot #2

This shot, again, portrays the sense of emotions/feelings. A high angle shot, the shot shows the male character putting his arm around the female character, with their heads close together.

Choice of shot #1

I chose this shot because it conveys the emotions/feelings being emitted, with the use of a CU on the couple holding hands. The emotions being depicted highlights part of the concept of the music video.
